[Free Achievement Sheet Available] To maintain motivation, focus on one thing at a time + your physical condition!

To all managers (business owners) and future managers, thank you for all your hard work today.

The difficulty of maintaining motivation for yourselves, your employees, and your staff.

I understand.

I understand perfectly.

It would be great if everyone could always be full of energy 💪 full of dreams 💪 and fully focused! Total concentration!

But that's often not the case...

To all managers and future managers facing such challenges, there's something I'd like to tell you.

It is this:

Most people, after being given only a goal,

cannot break down tasks themselves, manage schedules, maintain motivation, or recover.

They cannot do it.

Planning with the assumption that they can will lead to failure.

That's it.

I even feel it's safe to say that humanity itself hasn't evolved to be capable of it 😂.

"It's work, so you should just do it."

You're absolutely right!

You're absolutely right, but...

It's because few people can do it that your excellence is recognized and you've been promoted 🎉.

If everyone could do it, you wouldn't be struggling right now, and in fact, there wouldn't even be a need to have managers in the first place, would there?

Thinking back to childhood...

  • (Mostly) your mom would wake you up,
  • you'd reluctantly go to school,
  • you'd try hard to pay attention in class while sleepy,
  • you'd bring home homework you didn't want to do,
  • you'd somehow finish it while making various excuses,
  • and you'd be rushed to bed and sleep.

Isn't that how most of us lived? (Of course, there might have been some who could do all of these things on their own from the start.)

To my embarrassment, I was completely unable to do any of it 😂.

I relied heavily on those around me to grow up.

Even as an adult, I cannot possibly claim that "I can always do this myself!"

I feel like quite a few people are in the same boat.

In other words, it seems more natural to think that people aren't "actually capable but slacking off," but rather that they "simply can't," and therefore divide responsibilities within their team or family.

Perhaps most people can do it momentarily.

But doing it every day is incredibly difficult.

Most people have the ability to lift a heavy object once, but it's not common for someone to be able to keep lifting it all day long, that's the kind of image I have.

So what should be done?

The answer lies in various management methods and their support systems, doesn't it?

However, at our company, we believe there's something to be aware of before adopting a future-oriented approach that charges towards goals.

That is:

Based on actual accomplishments, both the individual and the manager can proudly say, "Good job! You're doing great!"

Again, breaking down future tasks and executing them all is extremely difficult,

and controlling your future motivation in the present moment might even be considered a type of superpower 🦸.

Therefore, we believe it's much, much easier and more powerful to focus only on the fact that the immediate work was done properly.

Humans have bodies

Furthermore, and importantly, humans need their bodies.

Therefore, at our company, we recommend being aware of one's physical condition as a crucial process in work management.

The importance of the body isn't just about not catching colds or how good youth is.

For example, is it possible to do your best work when you urgently need to go to the toilet 💩?

In my case, my mind would be full of it, and prioritizing work only to accidentally 💩 in public is something I'd want to avoid 😂.

Simply put, work performance is far more limited by one's physical condition at that moment than by the content of the work or one's motivation, isn't it?

Colds, periods, hangovers, serious illnesses, atmospheric pressure, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and so on.

However, just like before, setting a single goal of "always be energetic and focused" is too difficult for humanity.

So,

  • Did you sleep properly?
  • Did you eat properly?
  • Did you take proper care of yourself?

Why not start by recording these things?

When you talk to a team member who seems to lack motivation, you often find out that

they actually hadn't slept much at all.

This is a super common scenario.

It's also common for the individual themselves not to have been conscious of their sleep duration until it was pointed out.

"Things I Did" Sheet

Therefore, instead of each person writing their goals, we created a single A4 sheet where they simply write down one by one what they did.

It's designed to be used more loosely than a typical daily report.

It's available for free download, so please give it a try.

Click here to download the sheet 👍

As a note, the effect of this sheet is less about "recording precise operational progress" and more about "writing to feel a sense of daily progress."

After all, with any work,

if you just vaguely assign it, the schedule for getting started might turn out to be different than expected 😎,

so it's necessary to first establish a state where "at least something is being done."

Since the goal is to habitualize the state of "something is being done," I don't think it's necessary to fill in every item.

There are probably many things you don't want your boss to know, so it might even be okay for managers to not actually check the content, but just glance to see if it was written, with such a casual approach.

First, let's start by writing something every day and creating opportunities to praise ourselves and our subordinates 💪.

May you be able to proceed with your work enjoyably and reliably 🙏.
