Drink bar with carefully selected beans from all over the country

Hello! 😃

Drink bar. Everyone loves a drink bar ☕️

Whether I'm at a family restaurant or an internet cafe, I always end up checking it out at least once 😂

(Huh? Everyone does that, right...?)

These days, they've become quite common even in coworking spaces, and it's really helpful to be able to switch up my drink during work.

However, when it comes to coffee, I feel like a lot of it tends to be "safely blended" ☕💭

Of course, that's delicious in its own way, and the convenience of being able to drink it easily is a good thing, but if it's something I'm drinking almost every day, I'd be happy if I could choose beans that make me think, "Oh, I might like this one."

The coffee beans used at drink bars are usually mainly mass-produced beans called commercial coffee.

Since the quality tends to vary, they often end up being dark roasted and have a strong, espresso-like flavor.

Something like, dark roast, finely grind, brew strong, and then dilute with hot water.

While this is easy to drink, I sometimes wonder if it misses the opportunity to enjoy the unique characteristics of the beans.

In Japan, the drip coffee culture has always been stronger than espresso, both in coffee shops and at home.

If you actually compare them, there's quite a difference in atmosphere between diluting espresso beans and brewing with drip-specific beans.

(Drip coffee sold at convenience stores and drink bar coffee are quite different, right?)

Roughly speaking, drip coffee has less bitterness, more sweetness, and a stronger aroma.

That's why aromatic coffee, where the differences in bean variety and roasting are easy to discern, should actually be a good match ☺️

Especially in recent cafes, specialty coffee, which focuses on quality and farms, is mainstream.

However, dealing with good beans makes sourcing and management quite difficult.

It's completely understandable that if a store had to search for, compare, and even check compatibility with machines from roasters and bean suppliers nationwide from scratch, it would be a huge hassle and they wouldn't be able to manage it all.

So, wouldn't it be interesting if there was a system like a bean drink bar operation that collected specialty beans from all over the country? 😀

For example, the operating company could collect beans from roasters and roasting houses in various regions and organize their quality and characteristics.

Then, the stores would simply sample them and choose, "This seems to suit us."

This way, even if you're not a coffee expert, it would be easy to introduce, and users would also feel a bit more enjoyment, thinking, "Should I go for something light roasted today?" or "This shop has fruity kinds."

Moreover, if stores without machines could even borrow the brewing machines, that would be even more helpful.

Introducing something new involves costs and effort, which can't be helped 💦

That's why, if they could support not only the beans but also the machines, I feel like delicious coffee would spread more easily even in places that aren't dedicated coffee shops.

And I think it's perfectly fine to not make everything a free all-you-can-drink, but rather charge a small fee only for the specialty beans.

Since it's not good to be too expensive from the start, "We have a regular drink bar, but you can also choose slightly better beans" feels just right.

On days when I want a change of pace, or when I'm wondering what to do next, being able to choose a cup would lift my spirits a little ☺️

If I could encounter "truly delicious coffee" more easily in various places, I feel like the small satisfactions in everyday life would increase.

P.S.

Our company actually used to select, roast, and sell coffee beans, so we pride ourselves on being seriously more knowledgeable about coffee than a regular IT company 😂 We dedicated ourselves to trial and error while collecting data, reproducing roasting conditions, and preserving the freshly roasted state, as only a group of engineers could.
